Llegué a Colombia cuando tenía 15 años, y ahí empezó una historia de amor con esta tierra, inexplicable, irracional, una verdadera pasión. Había encontrado lo que buscaba en este mundo, calidad humana, belleza natural, una cultura misteriosa y fascinante y mas que todo un mundo mágico. Desde esa época bautice este país “EL IMAN”, a penas me iba mi obsesión era regresar. Pasaron muchos años y muchos viajes y en 1983 volví con un amigo músico conocido en Francia, JEAN PAUL RUARD, para él su primer viaje en Colombia. Él compró un pasaje válido por 3 meses y se quedó 15 años… con él armamos un dúo musical “Los Chipi Chipi” , luego un grupo de Rock´n Roll con 9 integrantes “Los Dragones”. Con los Chipi Chipi interpretábamos Blues, Ránd´b, Rock´n Roll y Vallenatos. Yo descubrí “el vallenato” a los finales de los 70´s y empecé a investigar y volver a las raíces tratando de impregnarme totalmente de esa cultura que tanto me gustaba.

Autores como Leandro Díaz, Alejo Durán, Gustavo Gutiérrez, reemplazaron a Baudelaire Rimbaud y Celine, en el panteón de mis ídolos y me volví un estudioso del folclor, un verdadero vallenatólogo. Con JEAN PAUL y LOS CHIPI CHIPI alcanzamos algo que se parece a la fama, radio, prensa y televisión, éramos los "franchutes" que interpretaban y traducían los vallenatos, pudimos vivir de nuestra música y logramos ganar premios en el Festival de San Juan del Cesar, y en el Festival de Vallenato de Valledupar. Después de unos años JEAN PAUL se cansó de esta vida nocturna y farandulera y cogió otro camino totalmente diferente “El Budismo”, ahora vive viajando entre la India y otros continentes. Por mi parte regresé a Francia y pude trabajar de Dj en varias discotecas parisinas y también trabajé como locutor de radio difundiendo la música Colombiana. Después siguieron muchos viajes y en 1989 conocí a Carine quien se volvió mi compañera hasta el día de hoy. Ella fundó la Alianza Colombo Francesa de Santa Marta, en colaboración con la Alianza de Barranquilla y la Embajada de Francia y fue nombrada Cónsul honoraria de Francia en Santa Marta a los 25 años, seguramente la Cónsul mas joven del mundo. En La Alianza pudimos conocer a muchos artistas y poco a poco se convirtió en el Centro Cultural más importante de la ciudad. Duramos cinco años, cuando finalizó nuestra labor regresamos a Francia y ahí organizamos varias exposiciones con los pintores de la región que mas nos habían impactado, esto fue como para terminar este ciclo. Después de un año y medio volvimos a Santa Marta, y ahí comienza la nueva aventura: “ La Puerta ”. Queríamos montar el Bar que nos hubiera gustado encontrar en esta ciudad, y al parecer muchas personas esperaban lo mismo, “ La Puerta ” es como nuestra segunda casa y se volvió la segunda casa de muchos colombianos. Tres años después se montaron muchos bares en el centro de Santa Marta, pero “ La Puerta ” sigue con su éxito, con sus locuras, sus personajes y la mejor música que le podemos brindar. Aquí amamos al Bolero, igual que al Trip-Hop, tenemos miles de Cds y una base de datos de mas de 800 Gigas musicales. En fin pude lograr el sueño de toda mi vida, compartir la música que más me gusta con mucha gente y también con ellos descubrir nuevos horizontes, nuevos ritmos y nuevas melodías y como decía Andrés Caicedo ¡Qué viva la música!.

I arrived Colombia when I was only fifteen years oldand there it began a love store with this Country, unexplicable, irrational, a real passion, I had found what I was looking for in this world, human warm feelings, natural beauty, a mistery and fascinating culture, and more than everything, a magic world, from those days I baptized this country as “El Iman”, that should be like “the Magneto” in English, as soon as I left it my obsesion was to come back, many years had passed and also many journeys and in 1983 I came back with a friend, a well known mussician in France, Jean Paul Ruard, it was his first visit to Colombia, he bought a ticket valid for three months, but he stayed for fifteen years... We both made a musical duet called “Los Chipichipis”, and then a Rock n´ Roll band with nine members called “The Dragons”, with the “Chipichipis” we played Blues, Rand b, Rock n´ Roll and Vallenatos. I met “El Vallenato” at the end of 70´s and I began finding out and recovering the roots trying to become totally impregnated with that culture which I like so much.

Authors like Leandro Diaz, Alejo Duran, Gustavo Gutierrez, replaced Baudelaire Rimbaud and Celine, in my idols cementery and I became a student of that folklore, a real “vallenatologo”, with Jean Paul Ruard and The Chipichipis we reached something that looked like fame, radio, news & T.V., we were “The Franchutes” who played and translate the Vallenatos, we could survived by our music and we also won prizes in San Juan del Cesar Festival´s and in Valledupar´s Vallenatos Festival also, after some years Jean Paul was bored of that night and disorders lifestyle and got a totally different way “The Buddhism”, now he lives traveling from India to other continents, by my side, I went back France and I could work as a Dj in some Parisines Discos, also I worked as a Radio Presenter spreading Colombian Music, after that many travels cameand in 1989 I met Carine who became my partner till nowdays.

She founded the Colombo-Francesa Alliance in Santa Marta, with the help of Barranquilla´s Alliance and French Embassy and she was appointed “Honorary Consul” from France in Santa Marta, when she was 25, surely the youngest Consul in thye world. In the Alliance we had the opportunity to know too much artists and little by little it became the mos important Cultural Center in Town, we stayed for five years, when our work was done we went back France and there we organized many expositions with Local Artists who had impavt us the most, that was just like for finishing this episode in our lives.

After a year and a half we came back Santa Marta, and there it began the new adventure: “La Puerta”, we wanted to make the Bar we would like to find in this city, and it seemed that much people was expecting for it also, “La Puerta” is like our second home and it became the second home of many Colombians. Three years later there are a lot of Bars downtown in Santa Marta, but “La Puerta” remain it success, with all its madness, its characters and the best music we could give you.
